Felix L.A. Names 66 Galleries to Visit Hollywood’s Roosevelt Hotel for 2024 Edition

Over the last five years, Felix L.A. has made a compelling argument that the typical art fair set-up—a cacophonous, commercial bizarre—needs a vibe reset.

Founded by Dean Valentine, Mills Morán, and Al Morán, the 2024 edition returns to the iconic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel February 28-March 3 with its signature offerings: eclectic art, emerging enterprises, and an easy pace to match the mellow weather. Like years past, Felix L.A. will run concurrently with Frieze L.A., which again occupies the Santa Monica Airport, but save your energy at the latter before heading to Hollywood; the painting and sculpture-scattered lobby and bedrooms of the Roosevelt is a curious, can’t-miss experience.

“Felix has become one of the cornerstones of the Los Angeles cultural landscape. Opposed to other large cities, New York or Paris, that have always had great fairs, for L.A., it’s relatively new to have multiple fairs happening at the same time,” Mills Morán told ARTnews.

66 galleries are set to participate, with about half returnees from 2023. Among the local outfits are Charlie James Gallery, Nicodim, Morán Morán, One Trick Pony, and Sebastian Gladstone. A strong contingent of New York-based exhibitors have returned, including Lomex, White Columns, 56 Henry, Fridman Gallery, and Magenta Plains. Moran, speaking to ARTnews, also highlighted the new outfits joining from close and far, such as Heidi (Berlin), Entrance Gallery (New York), and Fernberger Gallery (Los Angeles).

“We were really inspired by the hotel format in the 90’s that launched so many of the fairs we know now,” Mills said. “The Roosevelt gives you a lot of different ways to hang art, show art. That’s what we want to keep cultivating—a more experimental, more intimate experience.”
