Valerie Bertinelli is proving she is the bigger person when it comes to body shamers! The entertainer recently came under fire for allegedly using Botox. However, the 63-year-old handled the criticism like a champ.
The Wilmington native rose to fame as an actress before changing her scripts for a knife and becoming one of the most beloved TV chefs. Despite her age, the Food Network star continues to rock a youthful glow, a blessing that left someone blind with jealousy.
Under one of the Hollywood Walk of Fame honoree’s posts, a troll called out the “Valerie’s Home Cooking” alum for undergoing cosmetic procedures. Instead of bluntly slamming this hater, the mother of one maturely defended herself by teaching this individual a valuable lesson in human decency.
Valerie Bertinelli Addresses Speculations About Her Beauty With A Powerful Message To Body Shamers
In her latest Instagram update, the “One Day at a Time” star reshared a TikTok video of herself responding to a critic’s opinion about her facial features. In the clip, the TV personality highlighted the social media user’s comment at the top of the screen.
“The Botox looks great,” the individual quipped, sarcastically implying the 63-year-old had gotten beauty enhancements. The female follower’s ridicule was not lost on Bertinelli, who began her commentary: “Eww, I know you didn’t mean that as a compliment, but let’s talk about it, shall we?”
Getting honest with viewers, the Young Artist Award nominee confessed she had tried Botox about six years ago and shared a picture of what she looked like with the cosmetic procedure. Despite the treatment offering her a significant glow, the Wilmington native stressed the enhancer was not for her.
“As you can see from that picture, it doesn’t look like me. Like it sort of like changed the shape of my eyebrows,” the mother of one explained, taking off her glasses to show her bare face.
“What I thought it was gonna do was help me with my genetically puffy eyes,” the media personality continued with a chuckle. “Which I’ve always—they have always annoyed me. I’ve always wanted those nice deep-set eyes, don’t have them, never gonna get them.”
Bertinelli noted that she had learned to live with her eyes, going as far as staying sober in 2023 to see if alcohol had influenced the state of her visual organ. However, it was not responsible for the puffy nature of her eyes.
Coming back to the matter at hand, the “Kids Baking Championship” host confessed she was sharing these private details because the female troll tried to body shame her. Lamenting about the comment, the two-time Golden Globe Award recipient said:
“You’re trying to shame me, and you’re a woman. Like, what made you go out of your way to try to shame me, and I’m not the first person to try to be shamed on TikTok or Instagram or any place. So we women, we have to stick together, okay.”
The 63-year-old stressed that it was not okay to shame people who tried to make themselves feel better as they navigated this “insane flipping crazy world.” Reaffirming her disinterest in botox, the mother of one declared it was not for her, or she would have kept using it.
As for the comments about Bertinelli using filters, the Wilmington native confirmed it was true. The “Hot in Cleveland” star revealed she enjoyed using the water glow filter, praising it for giving her skin a smooth effect.
Taking off the digital enhancer, the cooking personality proudly flaunted her natural beauty for viewers. Pointing out her eye bags, the entertainer confessed she loved using the filter to hide her dark circles.
Fans React To The SAG Award Nominee’s ‘Honesty’ With Fervid Support Against Trolls
Following her powerful message to the female body shamer, the two-time Daytime Emmy Award honoree received an outpouring of love and support from fans. These devotees advised Bertinelli to ignore the haters and clapped back at her critics.
“Thank you for being so kind with calling this woman out! She can’t possibly be happy with herself and her life, so she projected onto you. You’re a classy lady, and I appreciate your response,” someone sweetly penned.
Another lamented the trend of women attacking each other, writing: “Too many women declare war on other women. It’s like middle and high school never ended.” A third chimed: “It’s her own insecurities. I agree with you. Women need to lift each other up, not shame.”
More people praised Bertinelli’s response, with a fourth commenting: “The honesty is refreshing and gives me hope for the world. Congratulations for calling out another woman in the most graceful way.
