Bold and the Beautiful has Eric Forrester dying in a plot that seems to churn more mystery than offer answers on the CBS soap. But all this may be part of a storyline that finally utilizes RJ Forrester to the max.
Since showing up on B&B RJ became little more than an accent piece. But he showed up with a motto that crumbled pretty quickly. He vowed not to become involved with family drama. Well, that ship sailed.
Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Eric Forrester Takes the Path of Denial
Eric Forrester (John McCook) has six months to live. Or at least that is what his doctor tells him as he drifts in and out of the Forrester mansion for modern-day versions of house calls.
But he refuses to accept that his clock is ticking down at such a fast pace. And, along with his denial, hints seem to crop up on Bold and the Beautiful this week that mistakes do happen.
Tension is high and discord starts to move towards anger between Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) and his father. In turn, RJ Forrester (Joshua Hoffman) lands in the middle.
He tries to honor his grandfather, who demands secrecy about his illness. Then there’s his father, Ridge. He inundates RJ with questions that gnaw at him. Keeping this secret from Ridge feels awful for his son.
So, the Forrester family seems to be in the early stages of a battle on Bold and Beautiful. But how does this play out going forward?
B&B Spoilers: Eric is Disenchanted with FC Direction
With Eric Forrester looking at a death sentence, he likely gets busy behind the scenes. He’s already made it clear on Bold and the Beautiful this week that FC is his life, his baby, and it means everything to him.
But he also made it clear that Ridge takes their signature line in the wrong direction. Instead of keeping within the classic look, Ridge veered away from Eric’s original visions for the company.
Eric expressed his disenchantment this week on Bold and the Beautiful about Ridge creating a more trendy look to his designs.
So, even if the Eric Forrester won’t accept the doctor’s prognosis of six months to live, he will likely not chance leaving FC in the condition he sees it today. So, he probably puts all his business affairs in order. Since he doesn’t like the direction Ridge heads with FC designs, he could have a problem leaving the company in his hands.
This could be where RJ comes in. This proud grandfather trained him. And his grandson caught on quickly to the elegant and classic look that FC is known for. So, is B&B setting up for an explosive family drama with RJ at the center?
Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Miracles Happen – So Do Mistakes
Katie Logan (Heather Tom) learned of Eric’s fatal diagnosis this week on B&B. Then, he reminded her of when she was told by doctors that having a baby could kill her. But she went against the doctor’s advice. Because of that she had a healthy son, and she’s still here to talk about it.
Eric Forrester is adamant that he’ll be around for a long time. He reassured Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis) that he’d be around for years on Bold and Beautiful this week. And while this looks like wishful thinking, one huge clue dropped that seems to suggest it may be more than that.
That bloody handkerchief, while not pleasing to the eye, acted as a prop to illustrate just how severe his illness had become. But after his latest Bold and the Beautiful coughing bout at FC, that handkerchief remained completely white.
He didn’t produce blood this time around. And the Forrester patriarch gave that thing a good going over for the cameras to capture. So there’s no mistaking it, and it seemed to put him at ease.
B&B: Eric Lives But Damage Done – Theory Gains Steam
Eric Forrester likely ties up all his loose ends just in case his doctor’s prognosis is correct. His love for his company pushes him to leave it in good hands.
The Bold and the Beautiful hints dropped suggesting he’s not impressed with the direction FC is going under the leadership of Ridge. But, like a mirror image of his grandfather, RJ flawlessly gets those classic visions onto the sketch pad.
So, it stands to reason that Eric would want his FC legacy to live on and there’s no one better equipped to do that (even after only a month or so working with him) than RJ.
Before this illness, the FC founder was in the process of handing the reins over to Ridge Forrester. Then later in life, they expected that this father would hand the reins over to his oldest son, Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson). Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) is on the business end of FC, she’s not part of the design team.
So, up until now, it looked as if Eric Forrester would one day pass the reins of FC down to Ridge, and then he’d eventually pass it to Thomas. But with a six-month expiration date looming, Eric may very well bypass his son, and oldest grandson, to put RJ in charge of future designs.
Bold and the Beautiful: Eric Puts RJ Forrester in Awful Family Drama
The last thing that RJ wanted when coming back home was to be pulled into family drama. Not only does it appear he’ll get pulled, but he might become the center of this drama as well.
Bold and the Beautiful brought RJ to the screen for a reason. Up until now, they’ve used him like a trinket. They just gave him a line or two. But now it looks as if they decided to give him something with substance.
The latest hints of a clean handkerchief, talk of doctors making a mistake, and miracles happening have to mean something. So, what if Eric doesn’t have a death sentence staring him in the face?

It would make for some explosive drama if Eric puts FC in RJ’s hands, only to find out his symptoms only mimicked a deadly disease. The doctor did hesitate a few times about his symptoms and what it could mean for a diagnosis.
He also said that bringing up blood with his cough was a game-changer when finally diagnosing him. So, under this theory, Eric lives after a wrong diagnosis. But by then if he put his business in RJ’s hands, well this would start a family drama.
Finally, it would also explain why they brought RJ to the screen. It looks like despite his wishes not to, he becomes the center of the family drama if this theory rings true on B&B. So there’s one possibility as to where Eric Forrester’s call to death leads him on the CBS soap.
