We first met Kenny Niedermeier and Armando Rubio on 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way Season 2. The couple met in an online support group for gay fathers, and after dating long distance, Kenny moved to Mexico to be with Armando. The two married and are raising Armando’s young daughter, Hannah, together. Now, more than ever, Armando wants a baby. Most recently, they visited a surrogate center that gave them an optimistic outcome for a future baby. But, Kenny’s hesitation on having another child left Armando devastated.
90 Day Fiance: Armando Rubio Pushing to Expand Family
Both Kenny and Armando said that they wanted to expand their family at some point. Kenny has four children and a grandchild. “I definitely know that surrogacy is possible here in Mexico City, and it would be a much quicker process to expand our family,” Armando notes. The main reason Armando wants to have a baby with Kenny is he loves how he is as a dad. “I love you as a parent and wanted to share that together,” he admits.

Armando doesn’t want to keep pushing the decision to the back burner anymore. He knows it’s time to make a decision. He asked Kenny once again to be honest about where he is at with the baby decision.
He says, “Well, I don’t have an answer today, so I’m asking you to kind of respect me on that a little bit because this isn’t about where we’re going to on vacation,” Kenny admits. This response sends Armando out of the room in tears. He is clearly tired of a “non-answer” from his husband.
Kenny Niedermeier Says He is Too Old for Surrogacy
The urgency to this decision is even more important now because of the access they have to medical facilities in Mexico City. The couple was formally residing in a small town.
“I’m over the moon, and I’m ready to have a child,” Armando told cameras after learning the affordability of the surrogacy route. He confirmed to Kenny that he “totally” wanted to move forward with the process — which would take between a year and a year and a half.

However, after a heart-to-heart conversation on 90 Day Fiance, it was clear they weren’t aligned about a baby. When Armando asked his husband to be truthful, Kenny Niedermeier admitted he did “go back and forth on it all.”
Through tears, Kenny admitted the conversation had been weighing on his mind. “You know, it’s a lot … I’m thinking I’m too old for it.” He also explained that he didn’t know whether it was “right” to bring an infant into the world at his age.
Kenny explains his thoughts on raising a child even further. He shared, “Thinking about a little baby, and thinking about if they’re 5 or they’re 6 or they’re 8 and something happening, because of the age I’m at, it’s something I have to think about. And it just hit me a lot.” Kenny added in a confessional interview: “This child, I probably would never see their children. And this is what [Armando] is not understanding.”
90 Day Fiance: Will There Ever Be a Baby in Their Future
In trying to reach a compromise, Kenny suggested that they look into adopting an older child. “I know adoption is a far-fetched option, but see like, to me, I would feel better about having an older kid and helping an older child,” Kenny Niedermeier said, as disappointment swept across Armando’s face. “Don’t act like that,” he added.

Armando clarified during a confessional that his frustration stemmed from the fact that they had already looked into adoption. “We went to an orphanage, and we found out that the process to be able to have an adopted child of our own takes so many years,” he said on 90 Day Fiance.
“I definitely know that surrogacy is possible here in Mexico City. It would be a much quicker process to expand our family,” Armando continued. “We can’t keep pushing it further back. It’s time to make a decision.”
Kenny later opened up about his hesitancy, saying, “This is a big decision. The biggest I think I can make, and it has to be the right one for everybody involved in the long run.” It remains unclear where Kenny Niedermeier and Armando Rubio stand on the topic of more children.
