On 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, Brandan enjoys constant communication with his girlfriend Mary and nothing is off limits. Julio plans to move to the Netherlands with his girl Kirsten but his mom doesn’t know that yet. Familiar faces Kenny Niedermeier and Armando Rubio agree to disagree temporarily. And eccentric Holly plans to move to South Africa for a shot at love. Let’s break down the weird and the wild of Season 5, Episode 1 Far Trek: The Next Generation.
90 Day Fiance: The Other Way – Brandan Makes a Crappy Call
New on 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way is Brandan. He’s in love with Mary who resides in a village in the Philippines. These two lovebirds met online. And now they can’t get enough of each other. Literally. They stay connected via FaceTime 24/7. So, when Brandan has to take a dump, Mary’s watching. She tells him it stinks. And he reveals he hasn’t even started delivering yet.
Next, he carries phone Mary on his visit to the dentist. She is mad jealous when the cute hygienist asks if she is his first love. Brandan says no and this sends Mary into a crying fit while his plaque gets scraped.

Brandan assures her it was a misunderstanding. Finally, we get a glimpse into Mary’s life in her village. She lives with her grandparents who raised her. And is close with her brother and his wife and children.
It’s clear both Brandan and Mary have dealt with hard knocks. Brandan was in foster care after his parents’ battled drugs and prison. Mary’s parents abandoned her very young. Mary admits that she had a scholarship to college for dance.
But she lost that when Brandan got jealous. She admits she’d become a nun if Brandan leaves her. But she’s savvy enough to unplug her router to meet up with friends. Early odds on these two: right in the pooper.
90 Day Fiance: Julio Makes His Mama Cry
Julio brings some normal to 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way. He hails from the Dominican Republic. But has been in America with his mom since he was young. He’s a popular DJ with a laid back vibe. He met Kirsten from the Netherlands online.
The pair chatted for 3 months. But never video chatted. She claims she was shy in spite of her Dutch Barbie looks. But they finally met up in Amsterdam and each breathed a big sigh of relief.
Aww. I understand Julio’s mom not wanting him to move out of the country. She refused to leave the DR without him when she got married. Now he’s leaving the US without her. Nonetheless, gotta let him go mama💔 #90DayFiance #90dayfiancetheotherway pic.twitter.com/BBDaY0GsDv

After a mutual quarantine it was love. So, Julio is ready to move to the picturesque village in the Netherlands that Kirsten calls home. There’s just one glitch: his mom doesn’t know. He prepares to tell her of his plans since Kirsten’s on the way for a visit.
But mom’s intuition has already figured it out. And she’s not happy. She cries and Julio feels guilty. Later, Kirsten is being held in customs. Early odds: most likely to make beautiful babies.
TLC Alumni Kenny and Armando Make a Move
Returning to the 90 Day Fiance global stage are Kenny Niedermeier and Armando Rubio. The pair ride horses in their quaint Mexican town. While Kenny loves the postcard view of the mountains, he’s a little bored.
So, he broaches the subject of moving to Mexico City. But Armando disagrees. He loves small town life and worries about crime and uncertainty in the city. Kenny wants to burst his comfort bubble.

Armando agrees to a 6-week mini move. Their daughter Hannah is game. Kenny emerges in a shirt and hat with a colorful disco ball pattern. It looks like the “70’s Disco Party Guy” Halloween costume from Party City.
Armando’s not amused. But admits it might be easier to adopt a baby in Mexico City. Kenny looks strained. The family drive the 5 days to their new digs. And everyone is impressed with the condo Kenny chose. Early odds: happily ever after.
The Other Way: Holly Weeks Brings the Weird
Newcomer Holly Weeks definitely weighs less than her head of 70-inch long hair. A lifelong Jehovah Witness and self-described nonconformist, she admits to receiving negative attention. Some say she belongs in a circus. But she’s ok with that.
She’s a barber by trade. Holly started out doing women’s hair and gave it up because they whine and complain. She’s been married twice but both unions combined dissolved faster than Kenny and Armando’s road trip to Mexico City.

Her 90 Day Fiance journey begins with Wayne Cornish. A sharp-toothed silver-haired plumber from South Africa. We see Wayne making the rounds to unclog drains and lay pipe. He’s friendly with his customers. So much so that he joins them for coffee and gossip when the job is done.
They discuss the next planned power outage and the robberies that could commence. And wonder if Mrs. Smith’s fridge was stolen by thieves. Or pilfered by her gambling addict son Ronald.
The pair chat about the future via video chat. Holly Weeks is all in on moving to South Africa. So, Wayne Cornish is willing to accommodate Holly, her hair and her mother when they arrive.
She and her mother will take his room since the couple are abstaining till marriage. Her hair will stay in the guest quarters adjacent to the house. Early odds: heavily clogged drains and heartbreak.
