Jordan Heller wasn’t going to let his past with Taylor Dayne affect his relationship with Joan Vassos — even the other Golden Bachelorette cast members briefly thought differently.
Jordan, 61, explained during the Tuesday, December 10, episode of the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast that he “swiped” right on Taylor on an app — and didn’t know who she was — before the show.
The pair went on one date when she visited Chicago and Taylor lost her phone while they attempted to dodge “an incredible storm.” After the whirlwind first date, Jordan said the twosome parted ways.
“We exchanged numbers, and then a few months later she texted me letting me know she was coming back to town or for another gig, and kind of that was the end of it until she showed up on The [Golden] Bachelorette,” Jordan said.
When Jordan saw her on his group date with Joan and other contestants, he recalled thinking, “I was hopeful. I was like, ‘I have to know if she remembers me because it was such a crazy night.’”
Jordan explained that he approached a producer and asked to talk to Taylor before she left the stage.
“Kind of the crowd knew because I was kind of telling the crowd the story a little bit, [that] I kind of went on a crazy date with her, and then Joan found out what was going on,” he said. “So I went up and talked to [Taylor] and I said, ‘I’m Jordan from Chicago. Do you remember me?’ And she’s like, ‘Yeah, we spent five minutes together.’ That was it.”
Despite the harmless interaction, Jordan said his fellow Golden Bachelorette suitors were predicting he had a different motive for talking to Taylor. “The guys were thinking maybe I was hitting on her. I’m like, ‘I’m not hitting on her. I’m there for Joan,’” Jordan said. “I just had to know if she remembered me.”
While Jordan ultimately did not find The One in Taylor or Joan, he did spark romance rumors with The Golden Bachelor alum Leslie Fhima earlier this year. (Joan accepted a proposal from Chock Chapple during the finale, which aired in November.)
Jordan, however, set the record straight on the speculation. “She’s great. We talk a lot. I think Leslie’s amazing, but we’re mostly just good friends,” he said. “We are not boyfriend, girlfriend.”
While he’s dipping his toe back in the dating pool, Jordan revealed he would be up for joining a potential Golden spinoff of Bachelor in Paradise.
“I would love it. First, I love the beaches. I mean I always was like, that’s the best venue. Get on the beach and you’re cocktailing more, there’s more people to obviously interact with. We’re not fighting for the same person, either sex. So I think it’d be fantastic.”
