Kody Brown is willing to reconcile with his older children as long as they accept his terms for peace… but will they?
The patriarch of the polygamous Brown family has been at odds with his kids, especially those he shares with ex-wives Christine and Janelle Brown. In the latest episode of TLC’s series “Sister Wives,” the father-of-18 clarified his stance in the dispute, claiming there will be no reunion without Robyn Brown!
Kody Brown Declares His Estranged Children Will Not Keep Him From Wife Robyn Brown
The rift in the Brown family has been ongoing for months, with the older children of the polygamous brood citing their father’s remaining wife, Robyn, as the source of all their problems. These kids have aired their displeasure about Kody’s blatant favoritism for his last spouse on numerous occasions, an issue that skyrocketed during the pandemic.
The drama led to the patriarch’s estrangement with his sons, Gabriel and Garrison Brown, over his rules amid the COVID-19 ordeal. These regulations, in the polygamist’s children’s opinions, favored Robyn, and her opinions appeared to be the most sacred in their father’s eyes.
Despite recently getting together virtually for Mykelti Padron’s gender reveal, the broken bridges between Kody and his older children remain unmended. According to the father of 18 in this week’s episode of “Sister Wives,” his relationship with his children may not be fixed anytime soon without Robyn.
The Brown family patriarch said, “Some day our family civil war might end, and then that contempt, you know, we can deal with it.” However, the 54-year-old stressed that a resolution cannot occur without his wife, declaring he will not give in to his children’s disregard for Robyn. In Kody’s words:
“You’re not going to separate us. They want their dad, but they don’t want Robyn. That’s not going to work. Robyn and I are going to be like this. We’re going to work this out. And that’s just the relationship we’re going to be in.”
“My life has changed a lot, and it’s been interesting because I don’t really feel like a polygamist anymore,” Kody said of his relationship with Robyn. As for his bond with his exes, the TLC star implied there was nothing as remarkable as his current romance, saying:
“It’s been 10 months since I’ve been to Janelle’s house. I don’t even know what’s going on hardly half the time with Meri’s life. Now I’ve got all this time that Robyn and I, we’ve got, sort of, this special life together.”
Kody may see Robyn as the apple of his eye, but his ex-wives, Janelle and Christine, supported their children’s narrative. The duo believed the entertainer’s wife negatively impacted their family following her marriage to the polygamist in 2010.
“When Robyn came, a lot of those traditions changed,” Janelle claimed, with Christine nodding in agreement, adding, “We stopped doing our Friday night dinners. Every single Saturday, we were doing things, and Robyn came in the family, and it stopped.”
“She was a separate entity from us, and Kody ended up being over there quite a bit,” Janelle said of her ex-husband’s favoritism. However, the father of 18 refuted these claims in his confessional, defending Robyn’s positive impact on their family. The 54-year-old claimed:
“Robyn always supported our family traditions because that was part of the negotiation that we made when we got married. In fact, she enhanced our traditions.”
Robyn Called Out Christine For Destroying Kody’s Past
This week’s episode of “Sister Wives” is not the first time Kody and Robyn’s special relationship has been highlighted. Last month, the 54-year-old’s only remaining wife unleashed her anger against Christine, accusing the 51-year-old of ruining their family.
In the episode, Robyn discussed the rocky family dynamic with Meri, noting that Christine’s departure had emotionally affected Kody Brown in 2021. The 45-year-old blamed the Plexus saleswoman for destroying her husband’s past, saying:
“What Christine has done is messed him up. He doesn’t want to admit it, but it’s the truth. Christine totally just destroyed his past. Like what he thought was a functional situation. She basically said it was horrible.”
Robyn described Christine’s communication pattern as an “Every single minute of every single day type of thing,” noting the 51-year-old would talk extensively about her experiences and challenges.
Additionally, she stressed the media personality’s words were primarily focused on her relationship with Kody rather than the relationships with the two former wives, Meri and Janelle.
