On the morning of February 27, Prince William canceled an appearance at a memorial for his late godfather, King Constantine II of Greece, citing a “personal matter” for the last-minute change to his schedule.
And from there?
Cue some mass chaos and confusion around the globe!
Because anything any member of The Royal Family does or says is likely to create an uproar?
Yes, partially.
But also because Kate Middleton underwent abdominal surgery a few weeks ago and many observers are now curious whether her husband canceled this appearance because something has gone wrong in her recovery.
Thankfully, Kensington Palace has now jumped in to assuage these concerns.
Simply put, the “Princess of Wales, who is recovering from abdominal surgery, continues to be doing well,” the Palace said via statement a couple hours ago.
The message was dropped about a month after Middleton was released from a two-week hospital stay following the aforementioned procedure.
At the time, the Palace shared that Kate had “returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress.”
We were never told the medical condition that prompted this surgery, but we suppose even Kate Middleton is entitled to a bit of privacy, you know?
Middleton will not resume her typical Royal duties until some time in April.
A source close to Middleton spoke to People Magazine a short time ago and did verify that there was a “serious” nature this this surgery, but also added:
“She is in great hands and will have lots of care and support at home and is a fit young woman. I am sure she will bounce back.”
Prince William, meanwhile, had planned to cut back his own role within his famous family to help his spouse recuperate… but then King Charles was diagnosed with cancer.
As a result, Royal correspondent Sharon Carpenter told E! News on February 6:
“We expect to see Prince William, if needed, obviously step up on behalf of his father when it comes to certain engagements.”
A day later, the Prince of Wales attended a charity dinner and told those in attendance, in regard to both his dad and his wife:
“I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the kind messages of support.”
