Gwyneth Paltrow’s embarrassing downhill ski accident that turned into the most dramatic trial this year will now be an in-depth doc.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s Viral Legal Battle
The actress was being sued by a man who claims she slammed into him on a ski slope and caused severe mental damage to him and some physical. The documentary will be called Gwyneth vs. Terry: The Ski Crash Trial, and it’s coming to us from Discovery+.
The documentary will drop in two parts later in 2023 and focus on how dramatic and, at times, hilarious the trial was, followed closely by those shocked that the award-winning actress was being sued because of a family vacation.
The accuser, Terri Sanderson, and Paltrow collided on the slopes in 2016, an incident he alleges left him with lasting brain damage. It was eventually found that Sanderson, will all his blames, was the one at fault and lost the trial.
Why Turn This Into A Doc?
Sanderson and his legal team were able to coax a side of Paltrow out that no one had seen before. The retired optometrist, 76, famously made Paltrow lose “half a day of skiing” when he ran into her.
He also noted that she yelled and screamed expletives at him, to which Paltrow admitted to using the F word quite loudly after HE smashed into her. He allegedly even apologized to Paltrow for running into her at the moment.
Paltrow’s kids were pulled up on the stand to testify about what they said. They were asked questions about their mom’s behavior after the collision. Moses had to testify to hearing his mom swear and her being upset abo having to sit out the half day.
Gwyneth Paltrow: Rich People’s Problems
The actress and her team released a statement after her court victory. “We’re pleased with the outcome and appreciate the judge and jury’s consideration. Gwyneth has a history of standing up for what’s right, and this situation is no different. She will continue to stand up for what’s right,” said her lawyer, Stephen Owens.
Then later, a rep for Paltrow released a statement that seemed to be the actress’s words. “I felt that acquiescing to a false claim compromised my integrity.”
The statement continues, “I am pleased with the outcome, and I appreciate all of the hard work of Judge Holmberg and the jury, and thank them for their thoughtfulness in handling this case.”
At the time, Paltrow had countersued Sanderson for a lousy $1. She doesn’t need the money, which is pretty symbolic.
Other Docs Coming Soon
The production company responsible for the new court series also produced Johnny vs. Amber and Kim vs. Kanye: The Divorce for the streaming service. And after Gwyn and Terry, they move on to Nicola Peltz’s father, Nelson Peltz, and his legal fight with her ex-wedding planners.
He accused them of botching Peltz’s wedding and being nowhere near able to produce a million-dollar wedding. He accused them of overstepping their abilities because of the big names attached to the wedding. And biggest of all, he wanted his over $100k deposit back.
The planners, Nicole Braghin and Arianna Grijalba, filed their legal docs refusing to refund the money, and attaching wedding documents is a nightmare to keep up with.
