Ahead of its VIP opening on Thursday morning, Frieze Los Angeles, in partnership with the Getty Trust and the Loewe Foundation, hosted a welcome party Monday night to celebrate the week’s festivities.
Staged at the Getty Villa, inspired by Villa of the Papyri at Herculaneum and home to the Getty’s Greek, Roman, and Etruscan holdings, the chilly night—by LA standards—was flowing with drinks, bites, and conversation among members of LA’s dynamic art scene and those who had arrived to town on the earlier side.
Among those in attendance were numerous artists including rafa esparza, Guadalupe Rosales, Lauren Halsey, EJ Hill, Jack Pierson, Calida Rawles, Alison Saar, Betye Saar, Lorna Simpson, Tavares Strachan, Leilah Weinraub, Doug Aitken, Edgar Arceneaux, Diedrick Brackens, and Chase Hall, as well as celebs like Ricky Martin, Chance the Rapper, and Owen Wilson.
