Was Barbara Walters putting her hands on her The View co-stars ahead of her passing? Apparently, yes! Read it here.
Barbara Walters Throwing Dukes Up
The late Walters was brought up by ESPN correspondent Sage Steele on Megyn Kelly’s SiriusXM radio show where she dropped a bombshell; that in 2014, Walters assaulted her in The View’s greenroom after a segment they filmed that turned contentious.
The attack allegedly happed in front of co-host Whoopi Goldberg “Barbara Walters, she attacked you? Wait what?!” Kelly asked practically foaming at the mouth for more details. “It was Barbara, Whoopi, and myself in the dark greenroom on the side,” Steele continued. She claims the late journalist “pushed” her into a wall.
“I was probably 4 feet from the wall and the trash can and Barbara was standing over here in front of me and she just started to back up towards me and looked at me and got close and elbowed me and it pushed me back into the wall and the trash can,” Steele explained. “I was like, ‘What did [she] just do to me? This 140-year-old woman just tried to like tackle me.’”
Oh No, Not An ‘140-Year-Old Woman’
Steele was not concerned with throwing jabs at a deceased individual. Maybe she feels justified because Goldberg backed her up and didn’t we all learn from a young age that you should keep your hands to yourself?
It wasn’t only Goldberg that saw it either. “Some of the producers saw it,” Steele recalled. Whoopi was the one who spoke up about it though.
“Whoopi saw it and she was like, ‘Come here.’ And she was great. And she pulled me aside in her little area and she’s like, ‘Don’t you let her do it.’ I’m like, am I in a movie right now? One of the legends that in this industry just tried to beat me up!”
Goldberg hasn’t spoken put about the incident since Steele shared the assault drama with Kelly but it is known that Steele was not Walters’s favorite co-host on the popular daytime talk show. they had a few run-ins.
Barbara Walters Spoke About Sage Steele’s Race
The former ESPN anchor also claimed in the past that Walters had an issue with her identifying as biracial. On Uncut with Jay Cutler, Steele claimed that Walters had an issue with her identifying as a biracial woman.
She used the ignorant example of then President Barak Obama identifying as a black male even though he is genetically biracial. Steele actually believes that it was this appearance and her defense of it that got her “sidelined” at work.
She just ended a battle with ESPN and its parent company Disney for being pushed aside after her public comments about Walter.
Sage Steele Is Speaking ‘More Freely’
The former correspondent feels like a weight has been lifted since the split from her company and the ending of the lawsuit. She took to Twitter now known as X as the platform to announce this.
“Having successfully settled my case with ESPN/Disney, I have decided to leave so I can exercise my first amendment rights more freely,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday. “I am grateful for so many wonderful experiences over the past 16 years and am excited for my next chapter!”
Can’t wait to hear some more stories from behind the scenes.
