One of the Twin Cities’ most esteemed fashion designers Joy Tieken of Joynoelle will debut a new collection on October 26 at the Minneapolis Club.
This presentation marks Teiken’s first solo show since before the pandemic. When the stay at home order was in effect at the events and weddings industries were halted, Teiken shifted from designing bespoke garments for her clients to sewing couture face masks.
Teiken’s new collection, which will feature 20 looks, draws inspiration from coral reefs and the beauty of our oceans. “You’ll see muted colors—coral pinks, mustard, cream, muted blues and greens—textures, and a lot of flow and structure,” says Teiken. “I got so excited by the imagery of the ocean and the beautiful reefs and just wanted to dig in.”
The event will also spotlight a guest speaker, Rachael Kaspan from the University of Minnesota’s Wardill Lab, who will give a brief presentation on the health and impact of our coral reefs. Ticket sales, proceeds, and evening donations will go directly to the Coral Restoration Foundation in Florida.
Tickets ($50) for Teiken’s show are now on sale, and include free parking, a front row seat, and champagne. joynoelle.com
