Sabrina Carpenter Takes Home More Than 1 Award at 2025 Grammys

Sabrina Carpenter brought her “me espresso” energy to the 2025 Grammy Awards.

The singer, 25, earned a total of two wins during the Sunday, February 2, ceremony at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Carpenter took home the award for Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album.

Prior to the awards show, Carpenter racked up six nominations, which were her first-ever Grammy nods. She received nominations in all four of the major categories — Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist — as well as in the Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance fields.

In addition to Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet, Album of the Year nominees included André 3000’s New Blue Sun, Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, Charli XCX’s Brat, Jacob Collier’s Djesse Vol. 4, Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft, Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department. (Beyoncé took home the award.)

For Record of the Year, Carpenter’s hit “Espresso” competed against The Beatles’ “Now and Then,” Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em,” Charli’s “360,” Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather,” Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!” and Swift and Post Malone’s “Fortnight.” (Lamar won the award.)

“Please Please Please,” another of Carpenter’s recent hits, vied for Song of the Year against “Texas Hold ‘Em,” “Birds of a Feather,” “Not Like Us,” “Good Luck, Babe!,” “Fortnight,” Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile.” (Lamar earned the award.)

In the Best New Artist category, Carpenter was up against Roan, Shaboozey, Benson Boone, Doechii, Khruangbin, Raye and Teddy Swims. (Roan took home the award.)

As for Carpenter’s pop contenders, Short n’ Sweet competed against Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft, Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department and Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine for Best Pop Vocal Album, and “Espresso” vied for Best Pop Solo Performance against Beyoncé’s “Bodyguard,” Charli’s “Apple,” Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” and Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!”

Carpenter reacted to her nominations via Instagram in November 2024, sharing videos of herself screaming while watching the announcement on her tour bus.

“This is the first year I’ve watched the live stream where I heard my name!” she captioned the post. “I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t dreamt about this day my whole life so I am filled with gratitude — Thank you @recordingacademy :’)).”

In January, Carpenter reflected on her decade-long journey to becoming a first-time Grammy nominee.

“I’ve always been true to myself and believed in my work since I was young,” she told People. “I’ve realized that it’s always been about the small baby steps that you take over time to get you to this point.”
